For those of you who want to root Sprint Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900, you can follow this root tutorial as it will show you how to install TWRP custom recovery and also root your Sprint Note 2. (If you followed the original root guide, you can follow Steps 4-11 in this guide to re-install TWRP as the CWM Recovery you installed is not compatible with Sprint Galaxy Note 2.)
Here’s a quick update on the latest Resurrection Remix ROM for the Note 2 GT-N7100 users. The latest version is based on the latest Android 5.1.1_r6, along with goodies like updated Android M-like launcher, more stability & performance, and much much more.
For those of you new to Resurrection Remix ROM, you will find plenty of customization options to make your life easier and fully tweak your phone. For theme, you will find the wonderful black and red PitchBlack theme by Resurrection Remix founder @Westcrip that will save you some battery life (since black background uses zero energy on AMOLED screens) and make your phone stand out.
Looking for a good, solid custom ROM with Android 5.1.1 with everything working out of the box including Netflix? Check out the latest Dirty Unicorns ROM.
Based on latest Android 5.1.1, the Dirty Unicorns ROM comes rooted out of the box with SuperSU and lots of customization over CM12.1 ROM.
If you want to experience latest Android 5.1 with root for your Galaxy Note 2, you may want to try the latest CyanideL ROM, available for AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and GT-N7105 Note 2 as Android 5.1 and Sprint Note 2 as Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
This is definitely one solid ROM that’s stable and comes loaded with more features than you can ask for. Also, you can use Shift kernel along with this ROM, which gives you awesome performance boost with 1.8Ghz overclocking (that’s what I recommend although you can go higher) along with STweaks app.
For those of you looking for a good Android 5.1 custom ROM for your Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100, check out the Resurrection Remix ROM.
Based on latest Android 5.1 Lollipop, Resurrection Remix is a ROM based on latest CM12.1 but with a twist and lots of cool customization you won’t want to miss out on.
For those of you looking for the best Android 5.0.2 Lollipop ROM, here’s a quick update on the latest CM12 and similar builds.
Note: GPS is broke on all CM12 builds currently including UB ROM!!! If this is an issue, do not flash this ROM!!!
For Sprint and Verizon Note 2, there are now “official” CM12 builds, these are nearly perfect and everything should work out of the box.
For those of you who have been waiting for a solid Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM, it’s been a pretty long wait for the Galaxy Note 2 series. One of the coolest things about the Note series and the Note 2 is that there are custom ROM developers who actually make it possible for users to upgrade to the latest Lollipop.
For those of you with a GT-N7100 Note 2, you are in luck because Team Electron is bringing you the DN4 (Ditto Note 4) ROM, ported straight from a real Note 4.
This ROM essentially turns your old Note 2 into a Note 4. Even better, the Ditto Note 4 ROM ships with my favorite AgNi kernel, which allows you to overclock up to 2Ghz and undervolt! (but I recommend 1.9Ghz for overclocking)
LiquidSmooth ROM v3.2 is finally out! I have been enjoying the previous v3.1 for weeks but I find that v3.2 is better than ever, giving you more stability and a solid Android 4.4.4 ROM.
Many of earlier Android 4.4.4 custom ROMs sometimes were buggy on some of the variants but I feel the latest version is better than ever. If you are looking for a good, stable 4.4.4 ROM with lots of customization/features, my top two choices are currently Gummy ROM and LiquidSmooth ROM.
Probably the coolest thing you can do on a Note 2 is root and install custom ROMs. Well, a lot of people just “don’t get it” and stay on stock firmware, which actually is super laggy and you are limited to features Samsung gives you.
There’s a better way to use your Note 2 by installing custom ROMs that give you Galaxy S5 and Note 3 features. Of course, that is if you want to take advantage over everything that your Note 2 has to offer and root it.
Looking for a fast and stable Android 4.4.4 AOSP ROM (What is AOSP?) for your Samsung Galaxy Note 2?
Well, I can tell you Gummy ROM is one of the best out there that also brings you a load of great customization/options not found on CM11 ROM. I love CM11 ROM also but sometimes lack of tweaks/features make me want to switch to a ROM like Gummy ROM.
For this week’s Note 2 ROM of the Week, check out latest LiquidSmooth ROM.
Based on latest Android 4.4.4, LiquidSmooth ROM brings you the best and greatest Android 4.4.4 along with customization features you will drool over.
First up, you will get a nicely-optimized Android 4.4.4 that is bug-free out of the box (should be better than CM11). You will find amazing performance/battery life with LiquidSmooth ROM.
For this week’s Verizon Galaxy Note 2 ROM of the week, check out the latest Android 4.4.2 ND7 + Root!
Verizon has finally released Android 4.4.2 for the Verizon Note 2, which just came out last week. Well, you don’t have to unroot to get the latest stock firmware and we actually don’t recommend it as you will be stuck with latest bootloader, which will prevent you from installing AOSP ROMs and you will have to use SafeStrap to install only TouchWiz ROMs.
For this week’s Verizon Galaxy Note 2 SCH-i605 ROM of the Week, check out the latest N3BULA ROM.
Based on latest Android 4.3 Verizon TouchWiz firmware, N3BULA ROM brings you a ton of customization along with clean-interface without cluttering your app drawer. The latest version also brings you Note 3 “white” theme along with slew of Note 3 apps/features.
For this week’s Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 ROM of the Week, check out Phantom ROM.
Based on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware, Phantom ROM brings you some great Note 3 and Galaxy S5 features so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
Phantom ROM, as its name implies, also comes with great performance and long battery life for those concerned for using it as daily driver. It comes with battery/performance tweaks, and memory/RAM tweaks that will help you get the most out of your Note 2.
For this week’s Sprint Note 2 ROM of the Week, check out FTW Anihilation ROM!
Based on latest Sprint Android 4.3 firmware, FTW Annihilation ROM brings you the best of TouchWiz stability along with some great new features taken from the Note 3.
Inside FTW Annihilation ROM, you will find an awesome red theme along with a “FU” battery icon (which I think is really funny) and custom system animations that will really jazz your Note 2 experience.
For this week’s AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, GT-N7105, or Canadian Galaxy Note 2 users, check out the latest Mean Bean ROM.
Based on latest Verizon Android 4.3 TouchWiz firmware, Mean Bean ROM by XDA developer MikeyXDA aims to bring you a faster, mean-and-lean TouchWiz experience without the lag and many little features to make it simply awesome.
For this week’s Note 2 ROM of the week, check out Slim Kat ROM, available for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Canadian, GT-N7100, and GT-N7105 variants.
I have been using Slim ROMs (same developers) for awhile since they had ROMs for the Galaxy S2. Their focus has always been on a “slim” ROM, just as the name implies. In fact, their default DPI (dots per inch) is lower than stock settings, which results in bigger resolution screen (or at least to the eyes).
For this week’s Galaxy Note 2 ROM of the week, check out (again) the latest Omni ROM. Omni ROM is available for all Note 2 variants including AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, GT-N7105, and GT-N7100.
Based on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, Omni ROM brings you more stability than ever with everything working out of the box. (multi-window is not working yet but should be soon…)
For this week’s AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, GT-N7105, and Canadian Note 2 ROM of the week, check out latest Jedi X19 ROM.
Like its previous versions, Jedi X19 ROM brings you the best of Star Wars theme/sounds/UI along with lots of features like Awesome Beats app for tweaking your sound, transparent multi-window enabled for all apps, Android 4.3 PhotoSphere camera, 4×5, 5×5, or 5×6 TouchWiz launcher with continuous scrolling, and much much more.
For those of you who want to install custom ROMs on your Verizon Note 2, you will need to unlock bootloader and install a custom recovery.
Today, we will be unlocking the bootloader using Adam Outler’s “No You Verizon” program and also root it. This will install TWRP recovery so you can backup, restore, and install custom ROMs.
