CM11 ROM with Android 4.4.2 for Galaxy Note 2! [AT&T/T-Mobile/Sprint/Verizon/Canadian/GT-N7105]

cm11-rom-android4.4.2-galaxynote2

For this week’s Galaxy Note 2 ROM of the week, check out the latest CM11 ROM (again).

What’s changed since couple weeks back we took a look?

Not too much but CM11 ROM is now based on latest Android 4.4.2 sources, which comes with additional stability, performance, and bugs zapped.  This is a work in progress but CM11 ROM seems pretty stable enough to recommend as daily driver for those of you who want as near pure Android as possible while running Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Everything should be working out of the box for this one and for those of you with a GSM Note 2, just make sure you set your APN Settings correctly to get 4G LTE/HSPA+ data working.  Other than that, if you are running the older CM11 Android 4.4, you can simply upgrade without doing a wipe.  So, give it a go this week(end) and do let me know how it goes for you!

Download CM11 ROM with Android 4.4.2 for Galaxy Note 2 Verizon SCH-i605

(Sorry, my mistake, no CM11 with Android 4.4.2 for GT-N7100!)

Download Android 4.4 Gapps (DO NOT USE OLDER 4.3 Gapps you will FC!!!)

BEFORE INSTALLING, UPGRADE your CWM Recovery to v6.0.4.1 or higher using ROM Manager App from the Play Store.  Also if using TWRP, use Goo Manager app to update to v2.6.3.3 or higher.  Otherwise you will FAIL during install!  You can also install CWM Recovery manually here.

To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, and reboot.   (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)

Note: CM11 does not have root enabled by default but you can easily enable it for adb & apps in Developer options.  If you do not know how to do this, see this video.

  1. leon says:

how do I upgrade instead of doing a full install?

  2. leon says:

OK I have a sprint phone I flashed it to cricket. Can I put this rom on it and not lose my cricket service?

    • Max Lee says:

How did you flash it? I am not sure exactly but if you only changed APN settings, you can install this ROM and just change APN.

  3. mek says:

Does this one fix the no external SD card support issue? I downloaded the prior version and now my SD card doesn’t work. Also is there a way to do a screenshot? Thanks!

  4. gordeaux says:

Hi Max, having a little trouble downloading from the link. Any other way to download? Thanks!

  5. Calvin says:

Hey Max, or anyone who might know. I am using TWRP v2.6.3.1 will that be ok? I cannot figure out how to upgrade to v2.6.3.1, I have tried gooManager, but that is as high as it will take me. Thanks!

  6. Sandino Santos says:

Any advice regarding the poor or non GPS resption?? It does not work at all.

    • fidelnelson says:

Flash back to the rom that the GPS worked….then find a GPS signal… (ie pin a location). Then flash the 4.4.2 rom with out turning off the GPS…….

  7. encompass says:

There is no twrp 2.6.3.3 for the Sprint note 2, it hasn’t been posted on the twrp site or the goomanager.

  8. Brian says:

Did Cyanogenmod remove the “select runtime” feature from the developer options? In previous versions of CM11 on my 2013 Nexus 7, I was able to switch to ART. But after updating to the latest nightly, both my Note 2 and Nexus 7 no longer have the option to switch from dalvick to ART.

  9. Brandon says:

Having transferring the Gapp file to my device. All it say when I try to do this is that my device isn’t attached. I have tried several times just about every way I can think of with several different gapp files and still no success. I’m new here can I get a little help

  10. husain says:

have this update fixed the previous gyroscope issues ?

    • bitkahuna says:

doesn’t seem to for me… gps is there, but using a tom-tom gps app (where i didn’t have data) showed car drifting off road between gps updates which i presume the app is trying to do from the gyroscope.

  11. ricky says:

Is there any way to get more icons on the screen. i currently use the Jedi ROM because it has 5×6, so i can have 6 lines of 5 items on my screen. can i do that with this ROM?

    • Krish says:

I use Nova Launcher. I find it has lots of nice options to add more icons in the “Nova Settings”. Im a big fan of Dock pages to have quick access and not take up valuable realestate on your home pages. It’s free!

  12. rocky says:

Audio issues. While headphones are in and playing audio. Pressing power button turns off audio. Turn phone back on audio track timer is still counting up still no sound. What’s up with this?

    • rocky says:

Also. #superuser in /system setup correctly. App &adb. Apps state Permissions denied, but #superuser states it is granted. Had to install superSU and setup (tick ignore cm) apps are granted permissions now.

      • rocky says:

Native screenshot option would be nice.

Also option for making home screen other than first screen on left would be cool too.

Not trying to complain. I’m sure this ROM took a lot of time to put together and I appreciate all the hard work. Just trying to help make it the best ROM out there because everything else with the ROM is fantastic.

    • Mek says:

The audio issues only happen when I use Beats. Any other time no issues…

  13. David says:

I am loving this one. :D it’s my current daily driver, flash and photosphere working flawlessly, no showstoppers. recommend to the AT&T Note II crowd.

  14. Krish says:

Anyone have issues with speakerphone volume? it works but is not as loud as it was before I flashed. anyone know of a fix or an app to increase speakerphone volume?

  15. Krish says:

anyone having issues with the camera force closing? If I open the camera app and then press the home button, and then try to reopen the camera app I get an Error that says “can’t connect to the camera” I have to restart the phone to reset. It happens almost everytime i use it. Any help would be appreciated

    • mike says:

I am also having same exact issue. Losing out on priceless moments. Any help will be gladly appreciated.

      • Adam Z says:

There is an app called Restart Camera that you can get. If your camera does that you can just tap the icon and it will fix the problem instantly. That’s the only fix I know of.

  16. Bry1981 says:

Having issues with keyboard. I use SwiftKey, but since I upgraded from 4.4 to 4.4.2 any time I open a “messaging” app I get a pop-up saying unfortunately Android keyboard (AOKP) has stopped working. It doesn’t seem to affect anything, just annoying… Any way to stop that? Please help

  17. Robie says:

Installed the nightly, and everything works except for Cellular service. I get LTE, and everything else works, but cannot make or receive calls… what gives? Verizon Note 2, btw.

  18. nikky says:

I have a rooted note 2 sph-l900 I’m running CM11 4.4.2 my playstore won’t open and I have a redball with a B in the middle. When I pull down notification no info on icon anyone seen this?

  19. Jarhead5x5 says:

I’ve tried both OmniROM and this CM11 build. Both very smooth. However, I was able to maintain root on the CM11 build, but not on OmniROM. So far my only real issue with this build (I understand it’s still developing) is that the camera app has issues. It’ll work fine for a while then freeze up forcing me to power cycle my phone to reset it (you’re not alone Krish). I have tried to uninstall the camera app via Titanium and install Photosphere, but it comes right back on the next boot. Does anyone know how Photosphere shows up in Titanium uninstall? Any ideas on this? Also, it would be great if the Hybrid settings like those in Paranoid 3.99-RC2 (another cool ROM) could be implemented in this build (I am partial to applying the “Phablet” settings universally instead of piecemeal). Viper4Android installs, but keeps wanting to install a driver which fails. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    • JWnFL says:

if you re-boot.. the original.. (like Max shows in the videos) and do not install the 4.4 kit kat plus gallery or photosphere.. it will run fine going forward.. if not then re-install a freash download of the rom and reinstall it.

I as well had issues.. and I made them worse by installing the 4.4 kit kat from gapps.. along with the gallery..

and the photosphere is a 4.3 not a 4.4.. so that’s an issue unto itself..

try just re-booting without tinkering on a fresh install of the 4.4 (CM11 either / or Omni)

      Good Luck!

      • Jarhead5x5 says:

Thanks! For whatever reason that hadn’t occurred to me. I formatted /system and reinstalled the ROM without Photosphere. So far, so good!

    • Adam Z says:

There’s an app you can download called Restart Camera. You just tap it and it will fix the camera. It’s not a permanent fix, you have to tap it each time the camera messes up but it fixes it instantly.

  20. JWnFL says:

Great Rom.. but after going back and forth between the CM11 and this version of 4.4.2 I have to say that the CM11 makes more sense.. pocket mode is priceless.. being able to have custom icoms on the lock screen is great.. but? does it make more sense than pocket mode? maybe a combination of the two?

as for battery life.. the first Omni was a battery eater.. and this CM11 seems to have a similar issue..

    OR!!!

something is hung up… I have tracked it to the lock screen calendar / weather module.. if you use the calendar events on the lock screen plus weather your battery life is not cut in half it is cut down by 70% at least. it is that bad. so beware.

but other than that.. it is FANTASTIC.. if you run any bench marks you will come out about 20% better off running a 4.4 verse a 4.2 / 4.3 rom.

So speed, very stable.. LOOKS GREAT!! free of bloat-ware..and the downside is battery life if you start running all apps (which I think is the lock screen as described above.)

Thank You Max, You ROCK!! and thanks to the developer and congrats to the developer for their new deal with Google..

Happy New Year! (if it applies)

  21. patrick says:

I like the CM11 rom a lot, but after trying 3 different versions, the camera still crashes after taking a few pictures. Is anyone else having this problem? I would’ve thought that an issue like this would’ve been resolved a long time ago…

  22. Mark says:

Thanks a lot for this ROM. I have a little problem:
After flashing this ROM, when I connect my phone to the computer, it shows N-7105. How can can I correct it?

  23. ishmael says:

I have no audio please help

  24. Louis says:

Where is my S PEN and how can I restore my data( contacts, pic. muisc

  25. Tim says:

What about Google Wallet. Will it work out of the box with 4.4.2 or are there additional changes we need to make.

  26. Rob says:

Is there a way to get the s note apps ?

  27. Rob says:

Is there a way to get the s note apps loaded with themodded ROMs?

  28. franky says:

how do you take a screenshot?

  29. Hey there! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against hackers?

I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve
    worked hard on. Any recommendations?

  30. Johnny says:

Just flashed this rom. I’m unable to SEND texts/MMS. I can receive without a problem. Help?

    • Jamie says:

I had the same problem (on a samsung galaxy s3 tmobile). I did a factory reset from recovery (again), installed the CM nightly (again), installed gapps (again), and it worked. Not sure why I had to go through the whole routine twice, but it worked afterwards.

Didn’t seem to remedy the lack of GPS location fixing, though. (Had/have that problem before and after.)

      • km141 says:

I cannot send sms, even after I did a factory reset and reinstall CM11 & gapps. I can receive sms, my device is gt-n7105.

        Any solution? Pl help.

  31. markill0s says:

Been running this awesome rom for a week or so. love it, only thing is, battery life sucks…
Might go back to jedi x20… as soon as i download it. above all, awesome rom, would keep it as a daily driver, but i do need my battery to last longer.
Max, as always awesome work, keep it up.

  32. chevyboi_305 says:

Max if I did the ota for 4.3 will I be able root my device without bricking it?

  33. Abel says:

hey max i keep getting stuck in boot loop everytime i download any rom for my tmobile galaxy note 2 i have the latest cwm and still stuck in bootloop what should i do

  34. Dana says:

This rom works better than most, but there are still a lot of issues.
You can’t change the lock screen shortcuts
Alarm get’s stuck after you turn it off. You can’t snooze, or dismiss. You have to reboot to clear.
Can’t easily manage the number of home screens. This probably is more to do with the GoogleApps install named on this page. To add a home screen, you have to drag an icon or widget right of the right most screen, and it creates a new one.
No way to move apps to sd, that I can find… So you run out of internal memory quick.y.

Hoping it will evolve, because in the end, it’s less buggy than the oem sprint 4.3 version.

  35. km141 says:
