For this week’s ROM of the week, check out SOKP ROM for Galaxy Note 2, available for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Canadian, GT-N7105, and GT-N7100.

Based on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, SOKP ROM for Galaxy Note 2 brings you a ton of customization and features including multi-window, floating multi-window (experimental), and more.

SOKP ROM brings you many AOSP customization/features you are used to on other AOSP ROMs together such as HALO floating notifications (which can be turned into floating multi-window), lockscreen notifications (my favorite), Active Display, Gesture Navigation/Anywhere, PIE Controls, and much more.

Although some of the newer features like floating multi-window are still beta and experimental, there’s enough customization on this ROM to keep your phone just the way you wanted, even if you don’t use every one of them.

Also, if you want additional performance and more out of your Note 2, try the AGNi kernel along with the ROM, you can get overclocking up to 2Ghz. (although I only recommend up to 1.8Ghz most)  AGNi kernel comes with its own AGNi Control app that lets you fully control your CPU/GPU voltage, undervolt, tweak sound, and more.

The SOKP rom for Tmobile says only 6.47 MB that isn’t correct is it?

  3. kris says:

Hey max just tried to download sokp rom from link and the file is only 6.74mb this cant be right I also downloaded the kernel, and it is also 6.74mb let me know whats up thanks.

  4. Mauro says:

The link for the Sprint rom is not right. It is pointing to the Kernel (6.46 mb) twice and not the actual SKOP rom. It should be at least more than 250 mb zip file or more.

  5. Darkmindedstar says:

The download link for 7105 has been 404’d, also the link on sonic-devs.. is broken too.

  6. Redeye Dog says:

Anyone know how well this plays with 64GB external SD Cards?

  7. Darkmindedstar says:

Doesnt matter how well it plays with that sd card if you can’t download the right file. …lol

    • Redeye Dog says:

Downloaded fine. Seems to be playing with 64GB SD Card well. Just can’t get Photosphere to install now..

  8. Redeye Dog says:

Hmmm. Seems like video content based on flashplayer doesn’t work.

When i try to download the rom, it doesn’t give me the box that pops up and ask a question. What’s the fix?

  14. Michael McGee says:

Please answer, this has been going on for a while now. Even with my rooms that are backed up.

Jelly Kat ROM or SOKP ROM which one is better? Any comparisons available?

  16. Almost all is great but I cannot start connect the wifi. Not for tethering, just at home. I Tap it, it highlights and then turns off out in about 2 seconds. Any Ideas?

  17. Redeye Dog says:

You were right about the camera but for me it isn’t just lag, I snapped one picture OK, then the next picture just hangs. Have to reboot to get a picture. N7100. Cannot install photosphere. I tried esexplorer and several other apk install methods. It just won’t install..

  18. Shane says:

I have the Verizon Note II and it FREAKED out when I installed this rom. Should I have cleared the cache and dalvik or something first? When it booted I got error messages all over about everything not running – phone, dialer, etc.

  19. Redeye Dog says:

Update – I went to the SOKP website and found a couple things. This all applies to N7100 only as I haven’t tested with any other phone.

    1. I downloaded their ROM (same as the one hosted on this site) and installed, no issues.
    2. I DID NOT install the kernel suggested for the n7100 on this site this time.
    3. Downloaded and installed ultraslim Gapps from the SOKP site (This site points to stock Gapps). No issue installing.

I decided to give that a try using the Galaxy launcher which comes with the ROM. Completely different experience so far. Camera/video works well. Watching streaming video works well using Dolphin Browser. So far, so good. I think I’ll sit on this a while and tinker but this time, everything which I need is working well..

I have not installed flashplayer and I may not have to. I will probably try to install photosphere at some point. We’ll see..

    Thanks all!!

  20. Redeye Dog says:

OK. Just tried to install photosphere. Will not install. The SOKP site has an add-on called lgcamera.zip so I tried it. Installs fine but locks up, then the other camera doesn’t work either. I reinstalled ultraslim Gapps, disabled the lgcamera.zip camera and everything working fine now..

Sprint l900 freezes at logo 10 minutes four times .did system and a few more tryes to no avil .hope you fix.haven’t had other problems .

  22. Redeye Dog says:

New problem. Anyone having bluetooth issues on the n7100? I was pairing with a Blueant hands free device using 4.2 no problems. Loved it. Pairing is having difficulty now, inconsistent behavior. When I do get connected, the call goes out/in but no audio. Upon disconnect, the phone is locking up. Any ideas??

    • Redeye Dog says:

The only way I was able to resolve the audio problem using bluetooth was to reinstall the ROM and slimgapps from sctratch. I had viper4audio FX mod installed and was having trouble with it. In the end, the only positive effect I could get from viper4audio fx mod was when using headsets. It didn’t do anything for the speakers or bluetooth. I tried turning it off and/or alternating adjustments, too.

I would have still kept the mod installed but it seems that it was causing some sort of conflict with bluetooth audio. The bluetooth connections with my Blueant hands free device works fine now without the viper mod.

In the end, everything works now in the ROM default. I think I’ll keep it a while and see if future updates from SOKP resolve some of these small issues. Thanks again to Max for introducing this great ROM for the Galaxy n7100 (and other Note II’s).

  23. Linuxnik18 says:

So far so good! Great update and enjoying so far. Quick question regarding being with the note 2, is there any Samsung app functionality with this? Any mod to get it?

I can send but can’t receive any sms through hangout. Anyone else having the same issue with this rom. I am using tmobile,

  31. Redeye Dog says:

@Elliott – Saw your post so I went over to SOKP and Dl’d the update & updated slimgapps. Installed ROM, no wipe/reset, installed Gapp update, rebooted. New exciting boot process. I won’t give it away. You have to see for yourself. 1st reboot was kind of slow because it updates and optimizes all your installed apps. All apps and formatting was retained.

It did become apparent that I needed to re-install xposed framework and reboot. Then a new font module is available. Reboot went real fast! Nice!! Definitely going to donate to developers, if their paypal connection works. Already tried once but paypal option wasn’t working right..

Anyway, still checking out what’s new.. I hope they keep developing this ROM. I really like it!!

  32. Terry says:

Sprint Note II and have failed to boot following all the directions doing it about 5 different times. There is no XDA post or page for the Sprint version of this ROM. This makes me believe this ROM is not intended to be used with the L900. Has anyone with an L900 successfully installed it? How did you do it?

  33. Ghacobie says:

The link to the gapps file is not working for me, it gives me a Teal blue screen and some type of error message

  34. Kortney Jackson says:

This is not working on the sprint note 2 I have tried many times still gets stuck at boot

  35. MohamedG says:

Hey there! I have tried a few ROMs linked off here and this one works pretty well for me, no issues aside from the music player quitting a few times while using the browser but I’ve not been able to recreate the issue. The question I do have is because I am on T-mobile, my note 2 is a SGH-T889 model and now after installing this ROM the model number under ‘about phone’ is listed as a GT-7105 and that is what pops up when its connected to my PC. Was that the model that the ROM creator used when making it or is there another reason for that? I pulled the T-mobile version of the ROM and installed it, so that is not the issue.

    • chris says:

Whenever it’s gotten to that point for me, I tracked down the stock image that was installed in my phone when I got it. Look on xda for your model of the phone, then search for stock images of whatever version of android your phone came with.

  49. maik says:

is possible to activate commands S PEN this ROM?

  50. Persuader says:

Anyone else find that you can’t change call volume using the hardware keys when headphones are plugged in? I have this issue with all versions of KITKAT (Slim Bean, ASOP, SOKP. Pac Man). Is it a known Kit Kat bug? I have searched online but can’t find anyone else complaining. Going back to Jedi X for the time being as its a deal breaker for me.

  51. jasoncook26 says:

I must say, this is the absolute best mod I’ve ever had on any of my phones. I was getting really tired of/bored with my note 2 and was thinking about selling it. This mod has changed my entire experience. It’s SUPER customizable, very very fast and smooth, and I have yet to find a bug (except the VERY occasional app lockup). BIG PROPS to the author, I much appreciate your work. Thanks!

  52. I have installed SOKP rom recently in my note 2 GT N7100 its superb but when I am using the music player
with my headset it runs fine but when the screen turns off the music doesnt play, when I remove my headset
it plays can please solve this problem…..
