For this week’s ROM of the week on the AT&T SGH-i317 or T-Mobile SGH-T889 Galaxy Note 2, try the AOKP Android 4.2.1 ROM, which is pretty solid.
Out of the box, you will get the full ROM Control settings offered by latest AOKP Android 4.2.1 including Android 4.2 Camera (Sorry, Photo Sphere isn’t working), Gallery, GMail, and other goodies like unlimited/all lockscreen widgets enabled.
If you are doing fine on custom TouchWiz-based ROMs like Jedi-X or Jedi-Master, you probably want to stay on it but if you are bored and want to try something new, give this ROM a go.
You will get the full Android 4.2.1 “Google” experience plus the awesome additional tweaks/features AOKP team brings.
Also, there’s overclocking up to 1.9Ghz (you will need to install SetCPU or similar app to overclock though).

To install, reboot into recovery, do wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, then reboot.

What is the “Gapps zip”?? Do I need to falsh that as well with this rom??

The “GAPPS” is the google apps like playstore and such. flash the rom do not reboot then flash the gapps after or you will have a googleless google phone.
Nice Rom. Runs great. Takes a while to customize to your own liking. Noticed that i have no 4g or wifi calling. I have changed the settings under wireless but nothing still 3g. I forgot where i go to change the option when you plug in your charger to change the background. Also i dont care who wins the Super Bowl the Seahawks didnt make it this year

Every time I try to install an app it tells me not enough space… Have 48 mb left for a 3mb app. Only done this with this rom. No matter what I delete it doesn’t work. What’s going on?
if you only have 48MB left then you are out of memory the apk for the application may be 3Mb that does not mean the entire app is 3MB clear out memory if you only have 48MB remaining thats really low
Bones: I had the problem with my Stratosphere. I think what I did wrong is I didn’t do that 3step wipe. Not knowing any better I went ahead and uninstalled all the Verizon bloat. But I suggest to do that wipe. What I did on my GN2 is factory wipe, cache wipe,dalvik wipe…flash rom, then I did another factory wipe and so on. I didn’t want any problems. So far all good. Now I am no expert dev or rom installer but reading all the other problems and answers that is the best course of action for me. Hope it all goes well for you.

Ive been using your site since I had my gs2 and im always impressed by all the stable roms that you introduce me to, and this rom is the best so far for my sghi317. I have one question to ask. I love me some jellybean 4.2.1 and ive been trying alot of 4.2 roms to no avail.
My question to you, or anyone really is this. Is there a 4.2 rom that has all of the following features. …
•mwc
•4.2
•working s pen functions such as s memo (even though I know it is supposedly only for touchwiz based roms) I would like the air view at least because I love drrawing all over peoples faces.
•working google voice search (google now)
•4.2 THAT RUNS NETFLIX (I WATCH ALOT OF MOVIES)
● a versions that will run home2 shortcut so that I can double tap my home button to run google voice search.

I dl’d every rom for the tmobile version and I have to say that the one that I been going to more is the MyRom it has the 4g, wifi calling, s pen functions, and the side bar with everything and then some. Too bad it doesnt come with some of the other add ons that the other roms have. I lime the touch wiz functions a bit more but when I want to show off I will load a different one. Plus it has the over clock ability. For watching movies “netflix” havent really tried my ps3 does all of that but I may try it. All I can say is try them all for a bit till you find the one that you gravitate towards. Hope that helped some.
I used AOKP on my S3 and LOVED it! I’d like to use it on my Note 2 but does anyone know how I can get Polaris Office back with a non-stock based ROM? It doesn’t show in Google Play and I’ve tried all the other office solutions. Polaris is the one for me. Thanks to anyone who has an answer. It’s the difference between my using Jedi X or AOKP.
Go on Samsung website samsung market and download the app store apk. Its in there.
Important Question?
If I use Android 4.2.1 ROM, can I still have TouchWiz features like S pen and Multi Window?
After I install the 4.2.1 Rom, can I not add S pen and Multi Window?
Go to samsung apps (that bloatware that you thought you’d never use) and you should be able to get it.
I have a question of my own though. Does this come with multiwindow control? I.e. all apps multiview?
It wont work….after I installed the ROM and Google Apps I downloaded multi window and my phone messed up….luckily I have a external sd card and was able to use JediXX Rom instead.
