For this week’s Galaxy Note 2 ROM of the week, check out BeanStalk ROM with Android 4.3.1.

Available for AT&T, T-Mobile, Canadian, and GT-N7100 Note 2s, BeanStalk ROM is one of my favorite Android 4.3/4.3.1 AOSP ROMs (What is AOSP?) all time.

Based in latest bleeding-edge Android 4.3.1, BeanStalk ROM brings you the latest Android 4.3.1 enhanced performance, battery life, and ton of customizations including HALO floating notifications from ParanoidAndroid ROM, PIE Controls with 2-level shortcuts, and AOKP ROM Control-like settings to tweak your UI/system.

Also you get uNEAK engine out of the box, which allows you to do additional tweaking with your CPU/GPU voltages, and tune your audio using Wolfson Audio Control along with DSP Manager on-board.

Overall, BeanStalk ROM is one of the best Android 4.3/4.3.1 custom ROMs out there and if you haven’t tried this bad boy yet, definitely give it a go this week(end) if you have a Note 2 model that supports it.

Hi, can you tell me if I install some of these roms you recommended, can I still retain some of the useful s-pen features of the Note 2, like s-planner and s-note? Because without those, the Note 2 is just another smart phone with a big screen. Thanks.

I cant backup beanstalk with twrp…whats the problem?

  15. Baba Asheri says:

Been using this rom for many days over many miles. Three or four times after connecting to a wifi network my mobile data wouldn’t connect back. I had to reboot in order for it to reconnect. I also ran into a rom backup issue, but that may have been due to lack of space on my sdcard1. I’m not positive. Even with these issues, this is still my favorite rom so far out of Carbon, Jedi, AOKP, stock and another of which I forgot the name.

Plus my Bluetooth will not work with any rom . is this a kernal issue? If so can you pls advise me of a good kernal to use. Thanx a lot.

Is there anyway to get my facebook contacts to sync with this so it brings in the photos? I can’t find the option anywhere, tried to uninstall and reinstall since I used titanium backup to restore, but that didn’t help. Under accounts and sync I see facebook but no where to say what to sync. It worked when I had skynote, would be nice for it to work on this rom too as I like almost everything else about it.

First of all, thanks a lot Max, for your very informative tutorials. Learned a lot about rooting and installing ROMs from you; kudos!

I have a question though. I am currently using the GT N7105 and would just like to know if you could recommend any ROMs that have Mircast/screen-mirroring enabled as I recently purchased a Netgear Push2TV dongle and would like to use it.

Would appreciate any advice you might have. Thanks a lot again!

Just a follow-up to my previous post:

I’ve installed the BeanStalk ROM and so far I find it pretty good. However I’ve been unable to find Miracast settings which explains my previous post.

      • CBreez says:

Did you ever find a good Custom Rom that supports Miracast and the ability to use a wireless adapter? I’ve had to move back to stock for my Sprint LG Optimus G. If you know any, give a holler. Thanks a bunch!!

  29. Chris says:

I just installed Beanstalk ROM on my Note 2 from AT&T (I-317), and so far I really like it. I had Illusion Rom 4.2 before. Illusion was good, but I had a problem with the speaker being too low when in a call. I also had a problem with NakedBrowser Pro bugging out. Besides this, the rom was pretty solid.

After trying this out over the weekend, Beanstalk will be my daily driver for now. One thing I found out though after installation is that there is not a file manager that comes out of the box. The way I solved this was to go to my backup of Illusion ROM through TWRP and restore it. Then create a “update.zip” file using Titanium Backup. Once done (along with backing up all system and user apps and data) I restarted the phone back into TWRP, restore Beanstalk, and then installed the update.zip file.

Once the phone rebooted, Titanium Backup is installed, and you can restore the file manager you used in your previous ROM. One key note about TB that I also learned, in TB you have to change the backup directory to something else besides the default one in order to be able to restore the apps. If you don’t change it, TB will hang when restoring.

Thanks Max and the developers for a great ROM.

Anyone know if the HDMI output works with this one?
Also I havenoticed that my GPS signal looses signal ocassionally – would that be due to this ROM?

Also is there anyway to enable split screen mode within this mod

  35. Edgar says:

Excellent Rom, works out of the box. I have tried different roms, but always have some problems like my phone don’t receive calls, or can’t connect to the internet or external sd card not detected. But this one is excellent, I am waiting when get this one on kitkat for my AT&T Galaxy note 2. Hope soon.
