Mean Bean ROM for Galaxy Note 2! [AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon/GT-N7105/Canadian]

meanbeanrom-galaxynote2

For this week’s AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, GT-N7105, or Canadian Galaxy Note 2 users, check out the latest Mean Bean ROM.

Based on latest Verizon Android 4.3 TouchWiz firmware, Mean Bean ROM by XDA developer MikeyXDA aims to bring you a faster, mean-and-lean TouchWiz experience without the lag and many little features to make it simply awesome.

Mean Bean ROM’s core feature is its raw performance along with zero-screen wake lag.  I have used Mean Bean ROM many times in the past on the Verizon Note 2 but it’s finally available for other Note 2 users.

Some notable features include a custom theme, themed Note 3 keyboard with Emoji, custom battery meter, native hotspot (working for all carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc…), and bonus ringtones/notification sounds along with a nice custom pull-down.  You will also find Wanam Xposed app to completely revamp your UI and XuiMod app to set custom animations everywhere.

Mean Bean ROM also ships with native shortcuts when your screen is off.  To turn on your LED flashlight, simply hold the Volume Up button for 2 seconds and also hold Volume Down for 2 seconds to turn it off.  You can also skip songs by using the Volume buttons and holding them for about 0.5 seconds.  Play/pause can be also achieved by holding the Volume buttons for 1 second.  The timing needs a bit getting used to but for those of you on the go listening to music, this can become very handy.

Overall, Mean Bean ROM isn’t feature-packed ROM that’s going to make you lost in abundance of needless features but a fast, optimized ROM with just the features you need to get work done fast.  If you have a Note 2 that supports it, check it out this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

  11. fred says:

    Hi max,
Great work on the site. Thanks for keeping this platform going. This rom is by far the best yet. Only complaint is the battery does not last as long as other roms. No glitches tho on sch i605 verizon. Thanks agian. Keep em coming.

  12. Bruce says:

What did you use to fladh the rom on your note 2? Cw mod, twrp, or odin?

  13. Childs Bishop says:

I’ve just flashed the latest Mean Bean rom, and I’m having issues with WiFi. I’m on a Verizon Galaxy Note 2, and the WiFi will not turn on. I saw the link for using Odin to flash a fix for other carriers note 2, seeing as I am not at all familiar with Odin, will this work for my issue, and if so, can you give me a brief tutorial?

    Thanks in advance.

    • rod jones says:

I have the Tmobile variant of the Note 2 and had the same issue of WiFi not working but I took the suggestion of flashing either the Agni kernel or Devil kernel. Soon as I did that, i had WiFi working. You may want to check that out.

    • Andy says:

Yes I would like to know how to do this also, I’ve treid and get an error when trying to flash with odin.

  14. Roger Hooker says:

I flashed this twice. Once with twrp and again with cwm. My data will not work either way. Please

I’m getting an error in Odin when I try to flash the MJ9 firmware. It says the Complete (write) operation failed. Any ideas on what is causing the error?

  17. Luis says:

FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH NO DATA
In the phone dialer “dial” this:
    *#*#4636#*#*
    then choose Phone information.

Scroll to the bottom and set preferred network type: GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto

restart your phone and enter apn setting

    hope it helps

    Complete(Write) operation failed.

  31. Daniel Yang says:

    hi
i got the rom and did everything, but the wifi didnt work so i downloaded the wifi fix, i went on odin and then clicked on pda then the 4.3 wifi fix.zip, bu then it failed.
can someone help me with the wifi fix

  32. Kristine Pereira says:

Do you flash the wifi fix before or after installing the rom? After I flashed the rom I noticed wifi stopped working so I flashed the wifi fix with odin (after already flashing the rom) and it passes but it’s still not connecting to wifi. I read on your site that someone said flash the firmware (is the wifi fix considered firmware?) then flash the rom, but I’m dreading having to do a full wipe and going through the process of loading everything up again blah blah. It’s time consuming.

I also read that flashing the Agni kernel helps fix wifi (don’t know why) but when I flashed that, it was havoc on my bluetooth and bluetooth is absolutely necessary for me so I got rid of it. I’m now wondering if that killed my wifi.

But if a full wipe is absolutely necessary then I’ll go for it, but need some advice about that situation before doing so. Thanks.

    Btw, I’m on a rooted At&t Note 2 using T-Mobile network.

  33. Kristine Pereira says:

Nvm I bit the bullet and did a full wipe on my note 2 and figured out why I was losing my wifi. Whenever I flashed the semi transparent backround or the stock keyboard, I would lose wifi. I thought it was cause I flashed both on TWRP that maybe something happened, however this time I flashed only backround and still no wifi. Did the wifi fix as well but no change. Guess I’m going to have to keep it how it is.
