Last week, we did take a quick look at the ported version of Tweaked ROM for the Verizon Note 2.  Well, Tweaked ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 is actually the original and if you have a T-Mobile Note 2, this is certainly one of the best ROMs for it (alongside Jedi X or Jedi Master ROMs).  Since this ROM does not come with a modem, you can also install it on AT&T, Canadian, or GT-N7105.

At the heart of the Tweaked ROM is TSM Parts Settings, which allow you to customize everything from your lockscreen, statusbar, clock, battery, and a slew of options.

Some neat features include lockscreen torch, AOSP lockscreens, Volume wake, ink effects, custom carrier label option, NFC enabled with screen-off or on lockscreen, multi-window enabled for all apps and some more.

If you are looking to tweak your system a bit more, definitely give the Tweaked ROM a try over the week(end) and do let me know anything else you find cool.

*NOTE – You can also install this on AT&T SGH-i337, GT-N7105, or Canadian SGH-i337M as it does not come with a modem!

If you get Status 7 Error while installing on AT&T, Canadian, or GT-N7105, you can fix the zip file by following instructions here.

Hows battery life on this rom compared to Jedi X ( 13 to be exact )?

  2. Dee says:

    oh man…. status 7 error(twrp)…. n7105

  3. Brandon says:

Still didn’t work for me after changing the script.

  4. RonDellawear says:

I have flashed at least 10 different ROMs on my phone and this one is definitely the best. It has a few bugs and is a bit slow at times but the AOSP tweaks over the Touch Wiz base makes it the best ROM I have flashed on my Galaxy Note 2.

  5. Jeff says:

Had the same status 7 issue. Followed the instructions verbatim to resolve the issue. Went back to re-install the ROM and it was not listed in my directory while in recovery mode. Odd I thought. Maybe I somehow re-saved it in another directory. I restarted my phone, double checked the location of the .zip file and low & behold it was saved in the correct spot. Rebooted into recovery, checked to see if it was there and it wasn’t. What the f**k? I’ve been flashing ROMs since my old Moto Cliq and never have I encountered this. Any thoughts?

  6. charlie says:

Love the rom everything works great little slow from time to time and the “deal breaker” may just be the menu background, when you open the settings menu every other rom the menu’s background was black or one had a faded out copy of the home screen wallpaper this one is just the text of the menu overlaid on the wallpaper making it impossable to read (it also happens in a few apps their menus as well)
does anyone know how to change it i searched the settings (stock and custom settings) cant find it
so with the “deal breaker” unreadable menus and the little slow at times I guess I probably will just keep flashing more roms shame I thought this might be a keeper

  7. cyaaat says:

After changing the script I now get a “status 4″ error and installation is aborted. Any ideas?

  8. Dee E says:

Hey Y’all. i just flashed this for Tmobile after having jedi master. i used the hotspot all the time with that and it worked great! i have like 27gb of data used just in the last 2 weeks haha anyways. its there a trick to doing the tethering for this ROM? it connects but its just constantly “Timing Out”. its annoying. it wont provide any data. Anyone know whats going on?

  9. phaze0085 says:

Eyo! To everyone trying to use this rom, I finally got it working for me, and I didnt have to mess with the text at all. If you head over to the link Ill provide for yall at the botton, all you need to do is download the basic tweaked rom, itll launch aroma installer, and after you pick all the customizations you want, you flash the most recent updated version of tweaked rom. Kinda like you had to do if youve used the latest version of Skynote. Anyway, if I could do it, I see no reason why yall cant.
P.S. I had help with this.

Only downside I see is it doesn’t support an overclocking kernel. This rom would be perfect if any overclocking kernel was supported. Going to give it a shot over the next few days and report back. Maybe I’ll stick with it or go back to jedimaster… who knows.

As a Tweaked user, for quite a while now, I can assure you, this ROM is ROCK SOLID. The installation is most likely what is throwing many of you off. Tweaked has a slightly “tweaked” way of even being installed. You REALLY, REALLY need to read the OP on XDA. Read it through a couple of times until you understand what is going on with the installation and you’ll be just fine.

      Installation help:
      1) Download the main rom file itself: Note II UVBMD1 Tweaked v2.3

      2) Download this aroma style zip that prepares for installation: Tweaked v2.3 Basic Approach Prepare Install

Those are just the names, go to the download section, POST #4 on the XDA site for the actual links.

      3) Copy both of these files to your SD root…internal or external…doesn’t matter. and CONFIRM MD5!!! SOOOooooo many people also have trouble when they have a corrupted download, so don’t be one of those people who didn’t check MD5, then waste everyones time asking for help.

      4) Boot into custom recovery (TWRP highly recommended over CWM) and make a back up!

      5) WIPE! Factory reset, include data, so maybe use an app like Titanium Backup or App2zip from the market to backup apps/data if you don’t want to reinstall, though…reinstalling isn’t that bad IMO.

      6) Flash the file from STEP#2: Tweaked v2.3 Basic Approach Prepare Install
—> NOTE!! This may be an aroma style zip, but its NOT installing a single thing, it only creates a folder on your root of your phones SD card that contains a file with your “preferences”. So go through this aroma interface and select the mods/features/apps you want. If you’re NOT installing on T-mobile SGN2 then uncheck the assert option at the start. Once it completes, all it does is creates a folder called: “TweakedInstall” and inserts a text file “install.prop” into that folder. The actual ROM installer itself, looks for this folder/file and retrieves your preferences and installs whatever you wanted. Why do it this way instead of just including the aroma into the ROM installer? The intentions is that when new versions came out, especially those with just fixes and not new features, you would only need to flash the large ROM file itself and not need to go through all the aroma screens remembering what all you wanted to install…etc.

      7) Flash the large ROM file downloaded in step # 1, if you correctly made it thus far, this installer will be completely automated…if you watch the screen, you’ll see it is going through and installing your preferences.

      8) Once its done, for good measure, do a factory data reset, and wipe Dalvik and caches…I just find this particularly helpful when coming from different ROMS. Your mileage may vary :-P

      9) Finally…Reboot and be patient…allow it to setup…once it makes it to the setup screens, just leave it be for 5 to 10 minutes…let it completely “settle in” and finish first boot stuff, the go about setting up and reinstalling apps.

      10) ENJOY!!!

Parting thoughts…once you first boot and go through and set up phone, verify basic functionality…before you reinstall apps/data (particularly if doing so from a backup), reboot into recovery and make another Backup, this one of the very primitive and clean Tweaked installation. If you run into trouble reinstalling apps, you will only need to restore this and start only with app installation once done.

      Hope this helps!!!

This ROM does support other Kernels and overclocking. I rock it with Saber Kernel and have it OC’d. You’ll need something to set the new clock speeds when your done. I use RomToolbox but others like setcpu might/should work.

  11. dark2003 says:

does it have WiFi tethering enabled?

  12. Lesson Learner says:

    A few comments:
    - All you need to do to install this is download the Basic Installer and download the main rom zip. Flash the Basic Installer first and you can choose SO MANY options – this includes skipping the assert checks for those getting the “not a T-Mobile” errors, using a ported SGS4 Mms or AOSP Mms, reverting the system background to NOT be transparent and go back to the stock black background (so no more readability issues), and so much more. Once that is done, DON’T reboot the phone yet (though you can really, it doesn’t matter outside of the wasted time to boot back into recovery) and flash the main installer. You will get all the options you selected, and now as long as you don’t delete a file the basic installer saved (wherever you said to store it) if you want to reflash it (like if you are flash-happy and trying different roms like most) all you need to do is flash the main installer and all of your options are selected for you. Might not save much time but it saves me some!
    - The kernel overclock stuff – this doesn’t have anything to do with the rom. As long as you are using a touchwiz kernel any sort of overclockable kernel will be fine. There are also some kernel options available if you go through the basic installer stuff.
    - Wifi tethering is hit-or-miss on most touchwiz roms that are hacked for it. There is an upsell-avoid option in the basic installer you can select, but I don’t believe there is a bulletproof guaranteed approach to using the native wifi hotspot – works for some sometimes and not for others. I don’t really use it though so I can’t say much on it.

Make sure to check out the main thread on xda – there is SO MUCH information in the first few posts – as well as a handy “modificatinator” zip which is an aroma installer that lets you choose options like you can in the basic installer, but it’s set up to do it AFTER the rom is installed, so you can change your mind without reflashing everything!

Hi. Do I have to wipe the data?

      • Gack says:

Yes, when coming from another ROM, it’s always required…at least that’s my understanding and I’ve flashed 100′s of ROMS over the years….a flashaholic! Not to worry though, you can use something like Titanium backup to restore personal apps and their data once you have Tweaked up and running. Just NO SYSTEM APPS, only market apps :)

  14. phaze0085 says:

Gotta huge problem ppl. I flashed this rom and everything works perfect, but when I try to open my contacts app, it just closes. Any ideas how to fix?

    • Gack says:

Not sure if it will help, but confirm your MD5…the one on your phone too…use an app like ES File Explorer or some other file explorer app that will generate an MD5. I say this, cuz sometimes when checked on PC where you downloaded it, its fine….but may get corrupted when copied over to your phones storage. Worth a shot. If that all checks out…try just reflashing it again. Wont have to go through the aroma setup, just flash the larger file again…may have just been a fluke.

  15. Josh says:

Not sure was happened but i followed the steps provided and did not work…..went back to Jedi 14!

  16. teekiya says:

I install the rom and runs pretty smooth but I have one problem. My contacts wont display. (And i do know my contacts are on the phone because i can dail the beginning of any contact number I have memorized and the rest of their number will show up). If I hit the contacts icon or go to the phone icon and hit contacts there, it blacks out then closes. Error reads unfortunately contacts has stopped running. Can anyone help me fix this?

Tried the staus 7 fix, couldn’t find the proper place to delete. Spend about 30 minutes looking at it, made my eyes hurt…lol. any suggestions?

Anyone having an issue with the sim error on wifi calling on sgh-i317??? Possible fix?

    • Max Lee says:

Do you have a wifi-calling enabled SIM?

      • D.sutton says:

no at&t doesn’t support wifi calling just wondering if there and md5 sum or some sort of flashable file to resolve the wifi calling sim error

        • Max Lee says:

You can just turn it off in settings then it will not bother you anymore.

          • D.Sutton says:

yeah I unfortunately ending up needing todo that as the constant invalid sim error was plaguing my battery life….just kinda wish there was either a hack or mod to the famework of the feature to make it universally compatible with all carriers or a flashable add on for a universal wifi calling app…..maybe just wishful thinking I guess :-\..

          • D.Sutton says:

any idea what modem would work best with this tried about 3 different ones and they all fall off the network…i know the 3/4g frequencies for the difference between the note 2 from att and tmobile are different but having flashed the MA4 modem and kernel and still dropping……suggestions????

  31. Lunchbox says:

I want to use this rom because I see many things that Cyanogen Mod threw away that I was not happy to see go. However I’m seeing too many complications on even getting this installed. The fact that this Rom carries Multi-window with it(which is big for me) I NEED this rom. I installed the first time and was stuck on a Boot Loop. I didn’t get a error or anything but was stuck on that loop. I’m on SGH-T889(Tmobile). After striking out with Jedi and basically seeing that JellyBomb was Sprint exclusive this is the closet to what I wanted. I need help. I’m not about to put my device through boot loop hell again so I need accurate help. The solutions thrown out are confusing to a noob/novice like myself so is anyone willing to step me through this?

  32. Lesson Learner says:

@Lunchbox (and everyone in general) -

Have you gone to the main thread for this on XDA? Loads of good info there. I had no issues with installing – ultimately this is what worked for me:
    0) Called it step 0, but just wanted to note that I was using TWRP 2.5.0.3 when I installed, though 2.6.0.1 has had no issues either.
    1) Downloaded TWO(2) files – one is the basic install prepare zip and the other is the full rom zip (got both of them from the xda thread)
    2) Booted into recovery and flashed the BASIC INSTALL PREPARE zip – it was an aroma sort of thing and I made a number of customize-install choices.
    3) I STAYED IN recovery, and I did a factory reset/data wipe from within TWRP.
    4) I STILL STAYED IN RECOVERY and then flashed the main install zip
    5) Rebooted and all was well :)

NOTE: Some people have reported issues using the Trinity kernel – I would either just leave that alone (i.e. DON’T elect to install a kernel) or just opt for the stock one.

ANOTHER NOTE: To those having status7 errors – in the BASIC INSTALL zip you can choose whether or not you want to do the check-if-you-are-T-Mobile things (the assert stuff) – then you won’t have any issues flashing it on things that aren’t a T889 :)

  33. jacob says:

Does this rom have free wifi tether?

  34. Lunchbox says:

    What options do I choose?

  35. Richard says:

How do you install if your flashing from MYROM??

  36. lonnie says:

Im new to this root thing, just rooted my t mobile
Note 2 & downloaded this great rom tweaked, but I have been having a lil problem with my mobile hotspot.I have tmobile mobile hotspot,I can’t connect to it.is it because its one on the rom or I did something wrong?

  37. Lunchbox says:

Tried it. Didn’t really like it. Although it returned multiwindow it took away a lot of the things I grew to love such as full screen caller ID.

  38. Josh says:

I flashed tweak on my t-mo note2 a few days ago, It’s okay I find it to be faster than the Jedi 16 or 14 roms I have ran in the the recent past, however the battery life isn’t all that good I haven’t overclocked or anything. I charge over night and by 10am I’m at half battery life, that’s without any real use.

Hey I flashed the tweak rom love it so far , but I noticed that not all the applications and widgets are installed what do I do to get everything from this rom

  41. cherry says:

when are you going to release new version? something based on 4.3. also, can you put lock on mobile phone shutdown and reboot option too? If someone steels my phone and shut it down, I cannot track it using tracking tools. So it will be nice to have lock on those options too.
    Thanks

  42. Amanda says:

Is there an update for tweaked to make it 4.2?

    • cherry says:

i am using now DN3 vs 3.2 which is android 4.3 and has lot of features from note 3.
you can download dn3 vs 3.2 lte version which comes with ATT modem, then install tmobile modem on top of it and then install Agni kernel (its very good). if you dont find dn3 vs 3.2, then get dn3 3.1 and update it to 3.2 using OTA updater and then install Agni, otherwise the update wont work
