If I could only recommend one custom ROM for the Verizon Note 2, it would definitely be Jelly Beans ROM.

Why?

It comes with lots of features while keeping the stability of stock Verizon firmware. Let me tell you a story about my friend who’s Verizon Note 2 had been freezing on stock firmware. Well, I did install Jelly Beans ROM on his Note 2 and it’s been almost 2 months and no freezes whatsoever and he “loves” this ROM.

That’s just a real-life example but Jelly Beans ROM is solid with lots of customization and features out of the box.

For those of you who don’t know, Jelly Beans ROM comes with a choice of modded TouchWiz or Nova launcher, multi-window enabled for all apps (also Multi-Window manager app on-board), hacked native hotspot (for free wifi tether), and a slew of customization through its AROMA graphical installer AND Custom Settings after installation.

The link for the download only goes to 90% then drops the download process. Is there a problem with the link or server?

when going from JB18 to 19, do i absolutely have to do a clean install? or do you know of an app out there that can archive/back up all of my data/files/cache/stored information/call logs, etc.

JB19 is awesome! Only issue is home button task manager causes system to freeze. Using Jelly bean UI. Have tried multiple installs with no change.

I came from Jedi 14 and this rom really blows it away it’s rock solid with just the right amount of options and tweaks.

Is it possible to update from v18 to v19 without having to redo all my settings and apps? I am new to all this. Thanks! I love my Jelly Bean ROM 🙂

First ROM I kept on my phone for more than a day. Smooth and has just the right amount of customization. Highly recommend trying it out.

Trying to download this ROM. Everytime I look on this site to see if there is a new update and see one. Then I go in to the custom setting to OTA updater and it shows available updates. But then when I click on it it always says error fetching peer certificates. It has done this for the last three to four updates. I can’t usually get the update until a new one comes out. I just got build 18 a couple of days ago.

I have installed the Jelly Beans ROM Build 19 multiple times on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and each time, during bootup, the screen blanks following the cascading jelly bean screen and the only recourse at that point is to pull the battery (no button or button combination has any effect). I’m using Teamwin Recovery Project v2.5.0.0 to flash the ROM. I REALLY like the feature set in the ROM and would love to get it running so would appreciate any assistance.

I forgot to mention I have tried selecting different installation options to test their potential effect, including different kernels and even simply going with the defaults, to no avail. If there is any debug information available in the system as a result of the installs please let me know where it is and I will pull it.

Try wiping /system and re-install ROM, that should make it boot.

      • knodalyte says:

Some custom ROMs do not have a boot animation, so all you see after the bootloader image goes away is a black screen. In the case of a newly installed ROM, that can last for several minutes. Give it 10 minutes (it should not really take that long) before the battery pull.

I wiped the cache before the install, and I installed the Perseus Kernel and it seems to be working fine. I have had to lock on me several times though.

I know this is a stupid question. But where is the free native tethering ? Is it the mobile hotspot app in the menu?

  10. Alex says:

How do make this have multiple apps open and switch from one to the other? Overall I really like Paranoid much better but I need GPS working so I have to give up ASOP. I like Nova launcher but TW launcher allows you to go directly to screen you need (7 I have). Any better launcher than TW that does that?

Hey Max, I flashed build 18 of Jelly Beans and for some reason my phone completely stopped going into landscape mode. So it’s stuck on portrait now. I already tried factory reset and turning the rotate on and rebooting. Nothing is helping that I can think of. Any advice?

Does jellybeans support the ATT galaxy note 2? And if it doesn’t is there a way to request support?

    Hello,
I just recently purchased the Verizon Note 2 and would like to update it with jelly bean ROM. Can I just download it onto my phone then install or do I have to download it on a pc then install it from there. I am very new to all this.
    Thanks
    Zach

Is there any way to increase the volume on this rom? It seems as though the speaker and headphone volume is way to low

  15. Wade says:

    Hey Max
I have been reading your newsletter for a while and I enjoy them. I finally decided to unlock my rooted Verizon Note so I could play with some custom ROMS (the instructions you gave, by the way, are spot on). Anyway, I installed the latest version of Jelly Bean to my phone and I really like it. The only problem I have is that my phone keeps locking up on my, Usually 2 to 3 times a day. Do you have any idea what could be causing this and how to stop it. I think it might have something to do with the timeout function because it seems to happen when I get a message or call when the phone is ‘asleep’ or when it goes to sleep inside an application (not on the home screen). Have you seen this problem before and do you know of a fix for it.

  16. Brandyn says:

    Hey Max,

I have a problem with the new jelly bean build 21 rom. I can’t get my 4g to work at all. I’ve tried rebooting, taking out sim card, re-flash rom, toggled, back up and restore efs files, and degraded to build 20 and still nothing. Please help and give me more suggestions. Thank you.

    Hey Max,
I can’t get the text messaging to work at all. When I select the messaging application the screen turns black momentarily and then returns to the home screen. I have downloaded it multiple times and even wiped the system and rebooted and still nothing. Any suggestions would be great.

I’m a total noob to this, so sorry for what is most likely a silly question. I really want to try jellybeans 19. I am currently running Jedi x19. I have titanium backup, but it tells me that it isn’t compatability with my current rom. Also I have less than 1 gb memory left on my phone with no external card. How can I download jellybeans and make the switch. After that how do I get this stupid Jedi off of here so I can free up some memory? Again, I apologize for the total lack of knowledge!

  19. John says:

Luv this ROM. It has the option to swap SD card for internal storage. Only problem is the apps seem to still be loading in internal. Any suggestions on getting the apps to SD card in this ROM? Under storage it shows my 32 GB SD card as phone and the 16gb internal as SD card.

I have tried deleting several files some of which include photos. However, the files never remain deleted; they restore after a few minutes up to hours later. I have deleted accounts that auto sync, turned off global sync feature, downloaded apps that tweak all auto sync accounts. But, the files keep on coming back…whew. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

I forgot to mention that this issue started after flashing jellybeans 19 from jellybeans 6….thanks!

  22. chris says:

Just a little confused. There is what I think to be another ROM named Jellybeans b24 (has alliance in the title). But, the ROM is still by beanstown 106. Is this in fact a different ROM, or is it the most recent version of this ROM?

Here is the XDA thread title:
[Rom][4.3] AllianceRom – Build 24 THE Most Customisable TW ROM On ANY Device [02/23/14][Aroma][MJ9

    Thanks!
