For this week’s Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 ROM of the week, check out BobCat ROM.
Based on Android 4.1.2 TouchWiz firmware, BobCat ROM brings you a TON of features, apps, and customization. This is a feature-packed custom ROM with all the bells and whistles.
I probably won’t be able to give you details on every feature on this ROM but let me try. First, the BobCat ROM comes with TouchWiz and Nova launchers with screen DPI set to 260. (Default DPI is 320) With 260 DPI, your screen will be slightly bigger and looks very nice with this ROM. If you don’t like the 260 DPI, you can easily use its UI Switcher app to change DPI to default 320 phone mode or even to tablet mode.
With BobCat Update Me ROM, you can customize your ROM with custom themes, custom dropdowns, and a ton more. It’s a great way to customize your ROM after installing it instead of having to deal with AROMA installer, you can just install the mod you need. You will need to reboot into recovery and install these mods also though.
You will also get a bunch of Xposed Modules like Xposed App Settings to run your favorite apps in tablet/hybrid mode, Greenify experimental features, Icon Themer, multi-window app manager for enabling apps, and Xposed Tweakbox for tweaking your UI. Make sure you run/install Xposed Installer at least once, enable the modules, and reboot first!
The coolest feature I find on this ROM is the data speed it shows next to your signal bar, which gives you the current data speeds your phone is using. I find this helpful in determining if there’s a lot of apps sucking up my data plan in the background, wonder why they don’t have this on every ROM.
For tweaking sound, you get Boeffla Sound app, which has some great customization for your speakers and headphones.
Overall, I am really lovin’ BobCat ROM as you never run out of things to tweak. If you are looking for such a ROM with features over your head, definitely give this one a try this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
