For this week’s ROM of the week, check out latest AOKP “official” MR1 Build 5 ROM for your AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, or GT-N7105 Galaxy Note 2.

These are “official” AOKP builds straight from AOKP Team, so you will be assured to get the best and the most stable version.  With the MR1 Build 5 release, the biggest update fixes a nasty virtual memory leak that was causing headaches with previous versions.

What’s new?

You will find a new navigation ring menu that allows you to set up to 5 different shortcuts and also 5 additional long-presses.  You will have to turn on your navigation soft buttons on for this to work but it’s almost like having PIE Controls at the bottom of you screen.  I kinda like it actually as I can replace my App drawer buttons and use the navigation ring shortcuts instead.

Also, with your quick toggles at the top of your screen, you will be able to switch to “traditional” quick toggles (like on Android 4.1.2) instead of the tiles with the latest AOKP.

The latest AOKP MR1 Build 5 also adds some neat Note 2-only features like S-Pen gestures, that allow you to set different shortcuts based on your S-Pen gestures.  This is a good sign since more S-pen support will most likely be coming in upcoming releases.

Other than that, AOKP MR1 Build 5 is more stable and faster than ever.  If you want to run pure Android 4.2.2, AOKP is certainly one of the best out there.

Do note that on the AT&T, T-Mobile, and GT-N7105 builds, you will see no signal icons when you get HSPA+ signals.  But this is just a minor error as you still get signals so don’t trip out if you see this, it just means you are getting HSPA+.

Also for the camcorder, there’s an “Old Chinese Movie” effect where things are longer than they appear.  Don’t worry about this either as it doesn’t actually affect your recordings, just on the screen it looks funny.

So, if this is something you are looking for, take it for a test drive this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

Flashed this rom last night, so far everything has been working, a lot more stable than other similar roms like liquid smooth, pacman, or paranoid. Still have to check a few other features to see if it is working properly. What I have noticed is battery drains a little faster than normal. Is anyone else noticing this?

Sounds like you didn’t instal Gapps. It tells you on the site here to install the gapps too when you install the ROM. Just DL the gapps, reboot to recovery and install them.

forget about the roms sometimes you lose the LTE and 4g network from your device even if you do restore still on edge 2 and sometimes you lose your network completely. the roms compatible with your device but theres is too many problems and lags. if you want the multiwindow compatible for all apps on your device you can just download some plugins it will enable all apps on the multiwindow.

I would like to hide the Navigation Menu, how do I? The Samsung Note2 already has the navigation!
