For this week’s GT-N7100 and Sprint SPH-L900 Note 2 ROM of the week, check out ProjectAOSP ROM.

Based on latest Android 4.1.2 TouchWiz firmware, the ProjectAOSP aims to brings you exactly what its name implies, as much AOSP running on TouchWiz-based ROM.

In my brief tests, ProjectAOSP ROM did quite well, runs smooth as liquid while speed is noticeably faster than most TouchWiz ROMs.

For those of you fearing about losing your TouchWiz features like S-Pen, AllShare, etc..etc… this is the ROM for you as you will be able to keep every one of your Samsung features making your phone look and perform as much as possible like AOSP.

In a sense, this is a “hybrid” ROM, one of those ROMs I highly recommend actually to noobs and tweakers alike. ¬†NoWizAOSP ROM on Sprint and Jelly Beans ROM on Verizon are some great ROMs similar to this but finally someone has managed to make one for the GT-N7100 (and also available for Sprint).

Overall, this ROM has been stripped from as much TouchWiz possible while you do also have the option of re-installing your favorite apps through the extras zip file.  So, if you are looking for such a hybrid ROM to give you an edge between TouchWiz and AOSP, give the ProjectAOSP ROM a try this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
