Venum Ice ROM for Sprint Galaxy Note 2! [Android 4.3]

For this week’s Sprint Note 2 ROM of the week, check out the latest Venum Ice ROM.

Based on the latest Android 4.3 MK4 Sprint firmware, Venum Ice ROM gives you the best of Android 4.3 without all the Sprint bloatware.

If you have tried previous version of Venum Ice ROM then you would probably love the latest version, which also comes fully themed in black, white, and grey.  The theming on Venum Ice ROM is a piece of art by itself, near flawless theme that will complement your phone very well. Also, having a dark theme such as Venum Ice may give you longer battery life as Note 2 has an AMOLED screen which uses less(no) energy with darker colors.

Venum Ice ROM also packs great features like optimized performance out of the box, WiFi hotspot working natively, PIE Controls, and some more.  Venum Ice ROM isn’t full of features you don’t need and the 636MB size of the ROM says a whole lot about its lightweight and tweaking for speed.

Overall, this is a great custom ROM if you want to enjoy the best of TouchWiz without the lag and bloatware. So, definitely give the latest version of Venum Ice ROM a try if you have a Sprint Note 2 SPH-L900 and do let me know what you think!

Max, I’m currently on SlimKat 4.4.2. I tried to install this last week, and the process failed using Philz recovery. Does it have anything to do with trying to go back to 4.3? I’d like to try this out, so any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

Flashing this now. I like the 4.3 roms but I want to update to 4.4 but whenever I try to flash them with twrp (2.7.0) my service fails and I can basically only use it as a wifi device. Any suggestions?

    • Max Lee says:

Hmmm not sure why that’s happening but I have had that happen to me before. You can try flashing a stock firmware with ODIN and try re-rooting. Usually that fixes those kind of issues.

If that doesn’t work, you may have to call Sprint, sometimes their network screws up and your phone doesn’t pick up network.

      • Brian says:

I will probably try re-rooting. It is just frustrating that it only fails in service for the 4.4 roms but any other rom is fine. Hopefully your suggestion helps. Thanks Max!

        • Max Lee says:

          You mean AOSP 4.4.2 roms?

          • Brian says:

Yes. Sorry I should have clarified. I first tried to flash SlimKat that you posted last week, this was my first time rooting the note 2, and when I did it did not have any reception. Then I went to the Carbon 4.3 and it was fine. Also, I switched to Pacman 4.3 and it was also fine. Then I tried OmniRom 4.4.2 and the problem persisted with no reception until I restored back to 4.3.

            • Max Lee says:

You have Sprint Note 2 right?

              • Brian says:

                Yes with Twrp 2.7.0
And as a side note I want to thank you for the Venum Ice, this is awesome.

                • Max Lee says:

I don’t think it has anything to do with your recovery, it seems like something else.

                  • Brian says:

Well that is very depressing then because I have no clue what is going wrong. I searched that if I updated twrp it should work but doing that did not help.

I used to use TWRP to flash my roms until I ran into the same network problem that you’re having. I switched to Clockwork Mod and have never had any of those problems since. You may want to try that.

I did what you said and it worked out great with testing the Illusion 4.4.2. thanks for the tip

  6. Joe Vaughn says:

Hey guys, I’ve been having the same issue with the wifi not working as well. My baseband L900VPAMC2. I found the baseband for L900VPUBMK4 via XDA. You will also need the wifi patch as well and everything works fine for me now.

I’m not sure if I can post the links here, but if i can please feel free to let me know and i will be more than willing to help you guys out.

    • Maurice says:

Joe, that’s the baseband that I am already on, no WiFi. I still tried the patch through odin, and it just hangs. Let it sit there for 10 minutes. Gave up and did a battery pull. Same problem with Classic ROM and STS.

  7. Joe Vaughn says:

Try this Wifi patch via ODIN and let me know the results. I’ve also posted the link to the forum where I got it.

You can also try turning off the Wifi Power Save Mode: On your dial pad type *#0011#, hit the Menu Key, select Wifi, and now hit the “WiFi Power Save Mode” button to turn it off.

    Let me know the results.
