For this week’s AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, GT-N7105, or Canadian Galaxy Note 2 users, check out the latest Mean Bean ROM.
Based on latest Verizon Android 4.3 TouchWiz firmware, Mean Bean ROM by XDA developer MikeyXDA aims to bring you a faster, mean-and-lean TouchWiz experience without the lag and many little features to make it simply awesome.
Mean Bean ROM’s core feature is its raw performance along with zero-screen wake lag. I have used Mean Bean ROM many times in the past on the Verizon Note 2 but it’s finally available for other Note 2 users.
Some notable features include a custom theme, themed Note 3 keyboard with Emoji, custom battery meter, native hotspot (working for all carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc…), and bonus ringtones/notification sounds along with a nice custom pull-down. You will also find Wanam Xposed app to completely revamp your UI and XuiMod app to set custom animations everywhere.
Mean Bean ROM also ships with native shortcuts when your screen is off. To turn on your LED flashlight, simply hold the Volume Up button for 2 seconds and also hold Volume Down for 2 seconds to turn it off. You can also skip songs by using the Volume buttons and holding them for about 0.5 seconds. Play/pause can be also achieved by holding the Volume buttons for 1 second. The timing needs a bit getting used to but for those of you on the go listening to music, this can become very handy.
Overall, Mean Bean ROM isn’t feature-packed ROM that’s going to make you lost in abundance of needless features but a fast, optimized ROM with just the features you need to get work done fast. If you have a Note 2 that supports it, check it out this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
To install, simply reboot into CWM or TWRP recovery, wipe/factory reset, install ROM, then reboot.
